    Three analysis modes, Korean, any OpenAI-compatible provider and a new interface.

    Three analysis modes

    • Local (new, default): OCR with PP-OCRv6 and translation with the browser's built-in Translator API. Free, private and no API key: the image never leaves your browser. Models and dictionaries ship inside the extension.
    • Hybrid (new): local OCR, and only the text goes to your AI provider. Faster and cheaper than sending the image, with notes and a literal translation.
    • Image to API: the image goes to your provider. Best quality for tough pages.

    Any OpenAI-compatible provider

    It used to work only with OpenRouter. Now any OpenAI-compatible API works (OpenRouter, Kilo, OpenAI, xAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Claude…), even local models with Ollama or LM Studio. You can use the account you already have with your provider. Guide: Set up an AI provider.

    Korean

    Korean joins Japanese and Chinese, in every mode.

    Words in all three languages and every mode

    • Word-by-word breakdown with readings (kana, pinyin and romanization) in Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
    • In local mode, segmentation and readings are computed in the browser (kuromoji, jieba and the bundled Korean analyzer).
    • Colors by word type: noun, verb, adjective, expression, proper name (new) and particle.

    My list and Anki

    Language filters and CSV export with the columns Char, Read, Meaning and Type, ready to import into Anki.

    Redesigned interface

    • New Tokyo Night design with Home, Analyzing (with the real steps), Translation, Words, Settings and My list views.
    • Errors with a clear explanation and a button that fixes them.
    • Interface in Spanish and English.

    Per-site permissions

    • If the browser won't let it read a tab, the “Allow on this site” button requests permission for that site only.
    • When you set up a provider, the extension asks to connect to that domain only.

    Save words and export them to Anki.

    • Save words with the star button in the words section.
    • A counter of saved words and a list to manage them.
    • Delete words from the list with the trash icon.
    • Export to Anki: creates a text file with all your words to import into Anki.

    • Select an area of the screen and KomaLens translates and explains it in a side panel.
    • Japanese and Chinese.
    • Works with anything visible on screen: manga, manhwa, subtitles, signs in videos and video games.
    • The image is analyzed by the AI model you pick on OpenRouter, using your own API key. No subscription, no account and no middleman servers.
