My list and Anki export

Save words, organize them by language and take them to Anki with a CSV file.

My list collects the words you save with the star. From there you can review them, filter them by language and export them to a CSV to study in Anki.

Saving words

In the Words tab of a result, click the star on each word you want to keep, or Save all. KomaLens saves the word, its reading, meaning, type, language and the sentence where you found it.

Opening My list

Click the star button in the panel header. If you saved new words, it shows a yellow counter.

The list shows one card per word with:

 • The word and its reading.
 • The meaning.
 • The context sentence, or the base form if the word was conjugated (for example, base: 괜찮다).
 • The language.

Filtering and deleting

 • Filter: use the buttons at the top (All, 日本語, 中文, 한국어). Each one shows how many words it has.
 • Delete: click the trash icon on the card.
 • Copy: the copy button at the bottom copies the list to your clipboard.

Your list is stored on your device only, in the extension's local storage.

Export to CSV

Click Export to Anki at the bottom of My list. KomaLens downloads a CSV file with four columns:

ColumnContentExample
CharThe word (characters)天気
ReadThe readingてんき
MeaningThe meaningweather
TypeThe word type, in the target language when savednoun

The meaning and the Type column stay in the target language you had when you saved each word: noun if you were translating into English, sustantivo if into Spanish. Changing the language later doesn't change words you already saved or the CSV you export.

Char,Read,Meaning,Type
天気,てんき,weather,noun
干,gàn,to do,verb
괜찮아,gwaenchana,are you okay?,expression

Set up a note type in Anki

The easiest way is a note type with the same four fields. You only create it once:

 1. In Anki, open Tools → Manage Note Types.
 2. Click Add, choose Add: Basic and name it KomaLens.
 3. With KomaLens selected, click Fields and set four fields named Char, Read, Meaning and Type.
 4. Click Cards and set up the layout. A simple example:

Front:

{{Char}}

Back:

{{FrontSide}}

{{Read}}
{{Meaning}}
{{Type}}

Import the CSV into Anki

 1. Open File → Import and choose the CSV you downloaded.
 2. Under Field separator, choose Comma. Anki usually detects it on its own.
 3. Under Note type, choose KomaLens, and under Deck, the deck you want the cards in.
 4. Check the field mapping: column 1 → Char, column 2 → Read, column 3 → Meaning, column 4 → Type.
 5. Click Import.

The header row

The first row of the CSV holds the column names (`Char,Read,Meaning,Type`). If Anki imports it as a note, find it in the browser (search `Char:Char`) and delete it.

Note

Menu names may vary slightly between Anki versions. The official import guide is in the [Anki manual](https://docs.ankiweb.net/importing/text-files.html).
